Wire Wallet FAQs
Wire Wallet FAQs
Getting Started
Can I connect my existing wallet?
Yes. WireUp works with your existing wallet. You can connect it directly or create a new one in seconds, whichever works for you.
How do I create a new wallet?
Download WireUp and follow the setup flow. You can create a new non-custodial wallet in under a minute. Your keys are generated on your device and never shared with WireUp.
What chains and assets does WireUp support?
WireUp supports Ethereum, Solana, Base, and Bitcoin. Additional chains are planned for future releases.
Security and Safety
How does WireUp keep me in control when an agent is running?
Two layers. First, your guardrails set what the agent is allowed to do before it ever runs. Second, Blockaid independently screens every transaction the agent attempts, so even an action within your guardrails still gets checked for malicious activity before it executes.
What happens to my funds if a Strategy or agent is running?
Your agent can only access the funds you've allocated to that specific Strategy, not your full wallet balance. You can pause or stop the Strategy at any time, and the funds stay in your control the entire time.
What is Blockaid and why does it matter?
Blockaid is a leading Web3 security provider used by Coinbase, MetaMask, and other major platforms. WireUp integrates Blockaid to screen every transaction before it executes, protecting you from malicious activity before it happens rather than after.
Is WireUp non-custodial?
Yes. WireUp is fully non-custodial. We never hold your assets, control your wallet, or have access to your funds. You are the only one who can move your money.
Who controls my private keys?
You do. Your private keys are generated on your device and never leave it. WireUp never has access to your private keys under any circumstances.
Pricing and Account
Is WireUp free to use?
Yes. WireUp is free to download and use.
Does WireUp charge any fees?
WireUp is free to download and use. A 0.875% fee applies to swap transactions. Standard network fees may also apply to on-chain transactions, as with any crypto wallet.
Does WireUp provide financial advice?
No. WireUp shows you what actions are available based on your holdings and settings. You approve what happens next, and any agent executes only within the guardrails you've set. WireUp does not provide investment advice, and outcomes depend on market conditions and the Strategies you choose to run.
What happens if I want to stop using WireUp?
You can stop at any time. If you have a Strategy or agent running, you can pause or stop it instantly. Your assets remain in your non-custodial wallet, and you retain full control regardless of whether you continue using WireUp.
Agents, Strategies & Guardrails
What is a Strategy?
A Strategy is an optional layer in WireUp. Depending on the type, it can notify you of opportunities or execute actions automatically within guardrails you define. You can turn one on when you're ready and stop it at any time.
What are guardrails?
Guardrails are the rules and limits you set that your agent cannot exceed. You define exactly what actions are allowed, how much of your assets can be used, and when anything should stop. Any agent, in-app or connected, operates within those boundaries and nothing more.
Can an agent act without my permission?
No. You set the guardrails, including spending limits, allowed actions, and when it should stop, before any agent starts running. Once it's live, the agent can't go beyond those limits, even if market conditions change.
Can I start small with an agent?
Yes. For example, you could set a guardrail allowing an agent to use only 10% of your ETH, then raise that limit later once you're comfortable. There's no minimum to get started.
How do I set up a Strategy?
Download WireUp, connect or create your wallet, and navigate to the Strategies section. You set your guardrails first, the limits your agent will follow, then activate it. The agent begins running within those rules immediately.
Can I pause or stop my agent?
Yes. You can pause or stop WireUp's in-app agent or any connected agent instantly, at any time. No lock-ins, no delays, no fees to exit.
Bring Your Own Agent (BYOA)
What is Bring Your Own Agent (BYOA)?
Bring Your Own Agent lets you connect an agent you already use directly to WireUp's execution layer. WireUp enforces the guardrails you set, so your agent can only act within the limits you define. It cannot exceed them.
How is BYOA different from WireUp's in-app agent?
Use WireUp's in-app agent if you want to get started right away with Strategies like Auto Yield, no extra setup required. Use BYOA if you already have an agent you've built or use elsewhere and want it to execute through WireUp instead of starting over. Either way, you set the guardrails first.
Can my own agent move funds outside the limits I set?
No. Once you connect your agent and set its guardrails, it can only touch what you've allowed, the same way WireUp's in-app agent does. If your agent tries to act outside those limits, WireUp blocks it.
How WireUp Works
How does WireUp find opportunities?
WireUp monitors your portfolio in real time and surfaces moments worth acting on. These include idle assets that could be earning yield, positions worth reviewing, and allocations that could be working harder. It's specific to what you hold, not generic advice.
Do I have to act on opportunities?
No. WireUp surfaces opportunities, but you decide whether to act, automate, or ignore them entirely. Nothing happens without your input or your pre-set guardrails.
Can I use WireUp without an agent?
Yes. You can use WireUp purely as a non-custodial wallet, reviewing what it surfaces and tapping to act yourself every time. No Strategy or agent connection is required to use the app.
Understanding WireUp
What is WireUp?
WireUp is a non-custodial crypto wallet that watches your portfolio and acts on opportunities within guardrails you set. This is what WireUp calls Active Finance. You can act manually, use WireUp's in-app agent, or connect your own agent. Every option works within the limits you define. You keep your keys.
What is Active Finance?
Active Finance is WireUp's approach to managing money: your assets stay active, surfacing opportunities and executing Strategies within guardrails you set, instead of sitting in a passive wallet waiting for you to act. WireUp is defining this category.
How is WireUp different from other crypto wallets like MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet?
Most wallets store and move assets and wait for you to tell them what to do. WireUp watches your portfolio and surfaces what your assets could be doing. You can act on opportunities yourself, use WireUp's in-app agent, or connect your own agent, all within guardrails you control.
Is WireUp a trading bot?
No. WireUp is not a trading bot. It does not make independent decisions or speculate on your behalf. You define the rules. Any agent, in-app or your own, executes only within those limits. Nothing runs without guardrails you set first.
What is an AI agent?
In WireUp, an AI agent is software that takes financial actions on your behalf, but only within the guardrails you define. WireUp offers a built-in in-app agent, or you can connect your own. Either way, it cannot act outside the limits you set.
How does WireUp's agent work?
WireUp's agent monitors your portfolio for actions worth taking, including idle assets, positions worth reviewing, and ways your assets could be working harder. You can review what it finds and act manually, use WireUp's in-app agent, or connect your own agent. Any agent operates only within the guardrails you control.
