Changes to the current WireUp app
Changes to the current WireUp app
We're rebuilding WireUp, so the current app is being retired. Your funds stay in your wallet, and there's just one thing we'd ask you to do. Everything you need is on this page.

App stores: Available until October 22, 2026
Current app: Works until January 21, 2027
Returning your balances: Scheduled before January 21, 2027
The one thing to do: save your recovery phrase before October 22
Open the WireUp app.
Go to Settings > Manage Wallets, tap your wallet, then View Recovery Phrase.
Write down the 12 words in order and keep them somewhere private and safe. If you have more than one wallet, do this for each one.
It takes a minute, and it means you can always get to your assets, even if you lose your phone or delete the app. We'll never ask you for it.
Your funds stay in your wallet
You don't need to move anything. We'll return any balances in Strategies or held by agents to the corresponding Solana, Ethereum, or Bitcoin wallet address and cover the network fees.

Timing
Why is the current app being retired?
The current app taught us a lot about what people want from WireUp. Based on that, we're rebuilding it around one place for banking and investing, with agents that work within guardrails you set. Retiring this version lets us put everything into what's next.
When does the app leave the app stores?
On October 22, 2026, the current app comes out of the App Store and Google Play.
Will the app stop working on that date?
No. Removing it from the stores only stops new downloads. If the app is on your phone, it keeps working until January 21, 2027, when we shut down its services.
How long will the current app keep working?
Until January 21, 2027. After that, the current app’s services shut down.
What happens on the shutdown date?
After January 21, 2027, the current app will no longer work. Your assets stay in your wallet on-chain, and you can reach them in any compatible Solana, Ethereum, or Bitcoin wallet with the 12-word recovery phrase for each wallet.
Your funds
Do I need to move my funds?
No. Your funds stay in your wallet, and that wallet belongs to you. If you'd rather move them to another wallet yourself before January 21, 2027, you can, but you don't have to.
Where will my assets go?
Before January 21, 2027, we’ll return any balances in Strategies or held by agents to the wallet address created when you first joined WireUp. You’ll be able to verify each transfer on a block explorer, or see your assets by importing your recovery phrase into a compatible wallet. We’ll keep a record of every transfer so we can trace and investigate anything that looks incorrect.
What about very small balances?
We’ll move everything, down to fractions of a cent.
Could I lose my funds if I do nothing?
Your assets stay in your wallet on-chain. The risk is losing access. If you don't save your recovery phrase and later lose your phone or delete the app, there's no way back in. Nobody at WireUp has a copy of your phrase or can recreate it, which is why it's the one thing we're asking you to do.
Could this affect my taxes?
Possibly. Moving assets between wallets you control generally isn't a sale, and staked SOL and JLP won't be sold. But unwinding a lending position may have tax consequences for some people. We can't give tax advice, so check with a tax professional about your situation.
Do I need to export my transaction history?
No. Your transactions are recorded on-chain, and you can look them up anytime using the appropriate Solana, Ethereum, or Bitcoin block explorer. WireUp hasn't issued separate crypto tax records.
What happens to balances in Strategies or held by agents?
We’ll return them to your main wallet before January 21, 2027. WireUp covers the network fees, so nothing comes out of your balance.
Recovery and access
What exactly do I need to do?
Before October 22, 2026, go to Settings > Manage Wallets, tap your wallet, then View Recovery Phrase. Check the box, tap Reveal Recovery Phrase, and write down the 12 words in order. If you have more than one wallet, do this for each one. Your phrase lets you import that wallet into any compatible Solana, Ethereum, or Bitcoin wallet and keep access to your assets after the current app stops showing them. Keep it private. We will never ask you to send it to us, type it into a support message, or share it with anyone.
Do I need to save my PIN?
No. Your PIN only unlocks WireUp on your current phone. You don't need it to recover your wallet anywhere else. Your recovery phrase is what matters.
What if I lose or replace my phone?
If you haven't saved your recovery phrase, nobody can recover the wallet for you, including us. Save it now, while you still have your phone, and before you change, reset, or sell it.
Will wallet recovery still work after the app is shut down?
Yes, as long as you still have the app installed or have saved your recovery phrase. Recovery reads information stored on your device and doesn't depend on WireUp's servers. Saving your phrase means you're not relying on any one phone, backup, or app.
The new WireUp
Will my account carry over?
No. The current app didn't use email accounts. The new WireUp will use email and password, with Apple, Google, and passkey sign-in planned, so everyone will create a new account.
Will I need to verify my identity again?
Yes. If you open banking or brokerage accounts in the new WireUp, you'll go through identity verification then. No crypto profile or identity verification record from the current app carries over.
Will the new WireUp include digital assets?
Yes. Digital assets are still part of the plan and will come back alongside banking and investing in a later release. Timing will depend on product readiness, venue support, and availability in each state.
When will the new WireUp be available?
We'll share timing and how to get early access as we get closer.
Your information
What happens to my information?
Records tied to Strategies, agents, and transactions will be exported and kept for a short time for audit and transition purposes before the systems behind the current app are deleted. Those records will be permanently deleted within 90 days. WireUp did not hold funds or regulated identity records for users of the current app. You can ask us to delete your information anytime at support@wireup.com. Different rules will apply if you open a banking or brokerage account in the new WireUp.
Help
How do I get help?
Email support@wireup.com if you need help finding your recovery phrase, confirming your wallet address, or anything else about the transition. Include the email or details you've used with us before so we can find you. Never send your password, PIN, recovery phrase, or private keys. We'll never ask for them.
